Welcome to Santa Cruz do Sul for the CORESTA Agro-Phyto Joint Study Groups Meeting 2017 (AP2017)!
Hosting delegates in Santa Cruz do Sul for another edition of the CORESTA Agro-Phyto Joint Study Groups Meeting is a source of great pride and satisfaction for SindiTabaco and its associated companies.
The last edition of this event in our city in 2005 was marked by a record number of participants from 30 countries, which demonstrated the importance that Brazil represents on the international tobacco scene.
Over these last twelve years our city has grown and has become even more attractive, more welcoming and with an infrastructure that allows all visitors to receive much deserved care and attention in great comfort. Located in the center of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in the extreme south of Brazil, the city is a reference for the quality of life that it offers its community and visitors. The wooded and flowered streets and the architectural heritage that portrays the German colonization, mix with the vigor and development promoted by the union of different peoples and origins.
Considered the "Tobacco World Capital" for gathering the largest tobacco processing complex in the world, the city also stands out for its beautiful sights, such as the imposing São Joao Batista Cathedral, and its great hotel resources and varied options of bars and restaurants that serve to suit all tastes. Santa Cruz do Sul is the venue for numerous business, tourism, religious, sports and cultural events, such as the third largest Oktoberfest in the world and the largest Art and Gaucho Tradition Festival in Latin America – this contributes to giving the city the title of "Capital of Happiness".
This is the perfect setting to bring together the world's top experts for the dissemination and sharing of technical and scientific information related to tobacco and its derived products. Santa Cruz do Sul welcomes all with open arms and strives to provide memorable moments in pleasant surroundings conducive to expanding knowledge and establishing closer professional relationships amongst worldwide scientists with an interest in CORESTA.
